All Things In Patient Faith
Baroness Design was built on faith-first principles. We are a Christian-owned small business on a mission to spread the light of Christ through compassionate service and inspired design. Our business holdings are home-based out of Madera, right in the heart of California’s Central Valley. We have grown our operations to include service offerings in a variety of design-based industries.
About the Owner, Lou
Owner and artist Lou Garrison has dabbled in a mix of trades and professions over the last ten years, but she has always been inclined towards the Arts. Lou completed six months of trade school in Graphic Communications before transferring into a Criminology program. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice: Pre-Law and was on track to pursue a career in criminal law. But God had other plans for her life.
In 2021, Lou decided to step out in faith to use her time and talents in God-honoring ways. She started Baroness Design Shop after freelancing in design for a few years and has diligently grown the business while remaining committed to exceptional design and ethical business practices.
Lou grew up in Madera, California. She shares her home with two McNab collies, Bandit and Bunty, and cat, Nala. Lou prioritizes time each week to engage in adventurous and creative pursuits alike, including motorcycle riding, archery, kick boxing, gardening, journaling, and tending to her family’s farm.
The Donkey Brand
Baroness Design Shop’s logo was inspired by our two mini donkeys, Cooper and Virgil, who have always been steadfast companions of the Garrison family’s many ranch animals over the years.
In heraldic tradition, a donkey displayed on a coat of arms might symbolize patience and humility; two character traits that we feel are vital to the Christian faith and highly favored by God when reflected in His followers.
Each of our donkeys (and indeed, most all donkeys) display a dark cross running the length of their backs with arms passing over each shoulder. There is some debate as to why donkeys have been marked this way, but some believe they have been charged to bear the cross of Christ for generations to come.
As for us, we live each day encouraged by what our donkeys symbolize as we take up our cross and plod along, striving to do “all things in patient faith.”
